First African American Female and First Female in the Arkansas Army National Guard to Graduate From the 11B Infantry Transition Course

Sergeant First Class (SFC) Tasheenia Wallace:

SFC Wallace was born in Denver, Colorado. She grew up in Morrilton, Arkansas and graduated from Wonderview High School in 2004. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 2015 from Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas and she is currently working on her Master’s Degree in Human Resources and Leadership, and she is scheduled to graduate in May of 2024.

SFC Wallace joined the Arkansas Army National Guard in 2004 after graduating high school, but had a break in service until 2006, where she then attended Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. She started her Army career as a Chemical Specialist (74D) at Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 39th Brigade Special Troops Battalion. In 2007, she started her premobilization for the 2008-2009 Iraqi Freedom Deployment with the 2nd Battalion 153rd Infantry, 39th Infantry Brigade.

In 2010, SFC Wallace was hired to work full-time in the Active/Guard and Reserve (AGR) Program as an NBC Team Member for the 61st Civil Support Team (WMD) at Camp J.T. Robinson, North Little Rock. She was later promoted CBRN NCO and Team Chief on the Survey Team. In 2015, SFC Wallace transferred to the 1-151 Calvary Squadron as the Human Resources Sergeant. As the results of 1-151 Calvary Squadron deactivation, she was transferred to 1st Battalion 153rd Infantry and served as the Human Resources Sergeant.

In 2017, SFC Wallace made history for the Arkansas National Guard when she became the first female as well as the first African American Female to graduate from the 11B, Infantry Transition Course (ITC), at the Robinson Maneuver Training Center. In 2018 SFC Wallace was promoted to Sergeant First Class and then assigned to Company B, 1-153rd Infantry Battalion, Texarkana, Arkansas as a Platoon Sergeant during the JRTC training at Fort Polk, Louisiana. In 2021, she was reassigned to HHC (Det 1), 1st Battalion, 153rd Infantry as an Assistant Operations NCO. Later in 2021, SFC Wallace was assigned to the 61st Civil Support Team (WMD) as an Operations NCO. In 2022, she was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 233rd RTI as a Senior Instructor Writer where she is currently serving.

SFC Wallace’s military courses includes the Advanced Leader Common Core Course, ARNG Basic Human Resources and Admin Course, Human Resources Senior Leaders Course Phase I, Human Resources Senior Leaders Course Phase II, Master Leader’s Course, 11B Infantry Transition Course and Retirement Services Training.

For her outstanding service, SFC Wallace has received the following medals and awards: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Driver Mechanic Badge/Driver Wheeled Vehicle Badge, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Arkansas National Guard Service Ribbon, Arkansas National Guard Federal Service Ribbon, Arkansas National Guard Service Ribbon, and the COL Robert L. Manning Achievement Medal.
